As a parent, it is easy to make a decision. It is much harder to implement the decision and make it a reality. I have done this myself in the past when I thought my child was making a mistake in life. Then, when I wanted to speak to my child about what was going on in their life, I would take them aside and tell them that they were making a mistake in their choice of career or that they should not be spending so much time with friends that they were neglecting their responsibilities at home.
They would listen to me, but still think that I am wrong. It was easier for them to listen since they did not feel like they had wasted any time listening to me.
